George Richard Chamberlain (born March 31, 1934 in Beverly Hills, California to parents Chuck and Elsa Chamberlain) is an American actor who became the teen idol in the title role of the television show Dr. Kildare. Coinciding sustaining his rise to fame in Kildare, Chamberlain too experienced the brief however moderately successful career as a popular singer. Chamberlain after became disenchanted by owning Hollywood and turned to the theater, finding profits around England among British audiences.
Chamberlawithin late appeared in many popular miniseries, including Centennial, Shogun, and The Thorn Birds. His several films include The Towering Inferno, The Last Wave, and The Count of Monte Cristo. In The Slipper and the Rose, a musical version of the Cinderella story, co-starring Gemma Craven, he displayed his vocal talents, which had already resulted within the hit only when you took his times when Dr. Kildare.
He at length retired to Hawaii where he owns l& with his partner, professional, producer, and director Martin Rabbett.
Although it was typically known that Chamberlain was gay, having been outed by the French women's magazine Nous Deux in December 1989, it was non until 2003, at age 69, that he came out as such in his biography entitled Shattered Love (ISBN 0060087439), which describes how he felt obliged to hide his gender sequentially to develop an acting career.
